11 women killed in UP road accident

Lucknow, Aug 7 (IANS) Eleven women were killed and more than three dozen others injured when a speeding tractor-trolley upended in Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police said.

The condition of about a dozen of the injured was critical, Chiliyan Police Station Officer Bhupendra Singh told IANS.

The women were returning to Sahajwa from a function at Sullapur when the mishap took place near Sucheldeva village during the evening hours.

Senior police and district officials rushed to the accident spot and undertook rescue and relief operations.

The injured were admitted to a nearby medical facility.
