The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board will present civilian citations to 21 citizens ‘whohave rendered unselfish assistance to Peel Regional Police, or demonstrated a unique concern for the safety and well-being of the community. The action, or assistance, given by these individuals is considered outstanding and above a normal civic responsibility.’
This event is the annual Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board and Peel Regional Police Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony, and will take place at the Mississauga Convention Centre located at 75 Derry Road West, Mississauga at 7:00 pm. Peel Police Service Board Chair Amrik Ahluwalia will be in attendance to honour citizens and officers who have demonstrated excellence in the performance of their duties.
Chief Jennifer Evans has said, “This upcoming event is always a special evening where we are able to take a moment and reflect on all of the outstanding work that has been done in the past year, not only by the officers, but also by the members of our community. It is important to provide recognition for a job well done, and this night is an opportunity to recognize performance that went above and beyond.”

The Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus – John F. Kennedy Council, Mississauga, will also be presenting a Humanitarian Award to a member of Peel Regional Police. his year, a Governor General Certificate of Commendation will also be presented to a member of Peel Regional Police.

INSPECTOR FRANK FERNANDES MEMORIAL AWARD – This award is presented to members of Peel Regional Police who has demonstrated: extraordinary competence in the field of scenes and crime investigation; commitment beyond the call of duty; persistence in all matters to seek out the truth for justice to be served; and, dedication to the field of collection, preservation, preparation and presentation of physical evidence.
CONSTABLE DWAYNE PIUKKALA MEMORIAL AWARD – This award honours an officer, with no more than five years’ experience, who has performed an exemplary deed and/or shown continued excellence in the profession, thereby demonstrating the qualities and potential so highly valued by Peel Regional Police.

CONSTABLE MATT PARR MEMORIAL AWARDS –These awards are presented to recognize those officers involved in Impaired Driver apprehensions. These officers have excelled in the detection and arrest of individuals who have the care and control of a motor vehicle or vessel, while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

MATT PARR AUXILIARY OFFICER AWARD – The Auxiliary officers of the Peel Regional Police volunteer their time and play a key role during the R.I.D.E. program. Auxiliary officers go out with Divisional officers, in all weather, all year long, to assist in reducing incidents of drinking and driving. This award is given to the member who has most demonstrated their commitment to the R.I.D.E. program.
