Ranjana Kanagasabapathy was on the way to the temple when an accident tragically took her life in 2013.

Vince Arbis the delivery truck driver who fatally struck their sister in 2013 was sentenced to serve three years in prison.

He was convicted of one count of criminal negligence causing death and two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm after crashing into a TTC bus, killing Kanagasabapathy and injuring 12 others.

The married mother and grandmother? was boarding the bus, set to go to temple, at the time of the crash. Several of the injured victims — including the bus driver — are still suffering from chronic pain, Justice Kelly Wright noted during the sentencing.

Arbis’s head hung low Monday in a Toronto courtroom as Wright read out his sentence, which include a 10-year driving ban. After he serves his sentence, however, he is set to be deported back to the Philippines.
