4-month-old child battered; has horrific injuries

peel police june 24A four-month old child was battered by a person who was supposed to take care of the child in Brampton on July 1. The infant, who suffered horrific injuries in the attack, remains in a coma, in serious but stable condition in hospital.

The Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit have charged a 22 year old male with Aggravated Assault.

On July 1, 2016, the victim was in the care of the accused, Klintom Villaruz,  a 22 year old male from Brampton.   Klintom Villaruz was arrested on July 3, 2016, and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. Police said Villaruz was the baby’s father and the child was placed in his care on Canada Day. No other details are available.
