AAP legislator Bhavna Gaur gets bail

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) A court here on Thursday granted bail to AAP legislator Bhavna Gaur, who is accused of misrepresenting facts about her academic background.

Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma granted bail to Gaur after the legislator appeared before the court.

The court directed the Aam Aadmi Party leader to furnish a personal bond of Rs.10,000 with a surety of a like amount.

The court on September 16 issued summons to Gaur on a complaint filed by lawyer Samarendra Nath Verma against the legislator from Palam assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, Gaur submitted that she was ready to furnish her educational qualification certificates.

Verma had complained that Gaur furnished different information about her educational qualifications in her two election affidavits — in 2013 and 2015.

According to the complaint, Gaur in 2013 claimed to be Class 12 pass, but in the 2015 affidavit, she said she was a Delhi University graduate and also had a Bachelor of Education degree from Maharshi Dayanand University in Haryana’s Rohtak.

The petitioner sought action against Gaur for offences under the Representation of the People Act.

The court will decide the issue of framing of charges on November 7.
