New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government of appointing people on the basis of friendship and not merit, senior advocate Abha Singh on Wednesday said that Swati Maliwal has done nothing substantial in women rights activism to be appointed as the next Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief.
“How has she contributed for women’s rights? She is not at all a name in women rights activism. Merit and merit alone should be taken into consideration while appointing someone for such a post,” said Singh.
“Few days back in the Delhi dialogue event, he had named his journalist friend Ashish Khetan as the chairman. It seems that Kejriwal is not appointing people based on merit for all the crucial posts but friendship,” she added.
Maliwal is an RTI activist. She is also the youngest member of India Against Corruption and is currently advisor (grievances) to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
According to reports, she would be replacing Barkha Shukla as the DCW chief. (ANI)
