New Delhi, Mar.7 (ANI): With the victim’s daughter pointing fingers at Smriti Irani post the accident at the Yamuna Expressway, the HRD Ministry issued a clarification stating that the lawmaker directed the Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to arrange ambulance immediately so that injured could be given medical treatment at the earliest.
The HRD Ministry said the car, which allegedly hit the biker who later died, has nothing to do with minister’s cavalcade.
“It is clarified that private vehicle Honda City DL 3C BA 5315, which allegedly hit the biker, who later on died has nothing to do with HRD Minister’s cavalcade as being run in section of media. Rather, Minister directed SSP Mathura to arrange ambulance immediately so that injured could be given medical treatment at the earliest,” said the HRD Ministry spokesperson.
Earlier, the daughter of the victim, who died after Irani’s cavalcade hit their vehicle, said that she pleaded before her with folded hands but the Union HRD Minister didn’t provide them any help.
Irani’s convoy was caught in a car pile-up following an accident on the Yamuna Expressway on Saturday. However, Irani, who was on her way to Delhi, escaped unhurt.
Speaking to ANI, the daughter of the deceased doctor, said, “The car of the minister hit us from behind. From another car, Irani came and I pleaded before her with folded hands to help us but she did not provide any help. Then another car came from behind and hit my father again and my father died. If the other car would not have hit my father, he might have been alive today,” daughter of the victim told ANI.
In a series of tweets following the accident, the HRD Minister had earlier informed of her well-being and thanked the people for their concern.
“Tried to help the injured who were lying on the road for quiet sometime and ensured they reach a hospital. Pray for their safety,” she said.
Irani said that she also ensured the people injured in the accident were taken to a hospital and thanked others for helping out.
According to reports, an FIR has also been registered in connection with this accident. (ANI)
