Akshay Kumar played the leading man in Airlift, a film which was based on the real life evacuation of about 2 lakh Indian residents from Kuwait to their home country during the Iraq war.

The actor decided to urge India for one such major evacuation  during the recent chaotic situation in South Sudan which has claimed hundreds of lives.

Akshay congratulated External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her team for the success of their Operation Sankat Mochan, where they evacuated over 150 Indians from South Sudan in a speedy process.

A few days ago, the superstar had taken to social media where he urged the Indian Government to help the victims who were stranded in Sudan during the attacks.

Ugandans who have been stranded in Sudan had no luck like the Indians. They have been asked to find their way out. A source said that nearly 20,000 Ugandans and people from other countries have been evacuated since fresh fighting broke out in South Sudan on 8th July. – CINEWS
