Deepika Padukone who has returned to India after wrapping up the shoot for her debut Hollywood flick, ‘xXx: The Return Cage’ says that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the pioneer Bollywood star who ventured into Hollywood and put India on the global map.
“Everyone who has managed to break through into the western market — whether it is Anil, Irfan, Priyanka, or myself — I think we have all done a great job.” she said.
She said that all the actresses are getting attention of the west when the Bollywood women are working towards breaking stereotypes. “We are all focused on being part of good content, and to be cast in films based on our talent and not because of the colour of our skin,” she said.
Deepika was recently quoted saying, “If I am offered an interesting script for a South Indian film, I would definitely consider taking it up. For me, language is only a medium to give shape to great content.”
Recently, she was in Kerala and said that she would like to act in a Malayalam movie if she gets a good scripts. Asked which star she likes in Mollywood she did not name names but said there are very good actors in Kerala.
Speaking about her Hollywood debut she said, “Honestly, I don’t like dividing my projects into Hollywood or Bollywood, as an actress, the kind of effort and hard work that I put into any film is exactly the same, and the only difference is the language. So, I don’t look at it as two separate journeys. I look at it as an extension of my career.” – CINEWS
