‘Padman’ actor Akshay Kumar has been promoting the film since its initial days and last day the superstar placed a pad vending machine at the Mumbai Central ST bus depot along with Aditya Thackeray, the President of Yuva Sena, a youth wing of Shiv Sena.
According to Aditya, Akshay and he are setting up 60 sanitary pad vending machines across Maharashtra and the Rotary Club is giving them 40 more.
Reports says, They will be placing 30 machines in important bus depots of the MSRTC so that women traveling to and from far off places in the interiors can make use of them.
R. Balki’s film ‘PadMan’ which stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles, and is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who introduced low-cost sanitary pads has been making waves at the box-office due to its unique storyline.
The makers and the cast of the film had left no stone unturned to promote the film and at the same time to create awareness about the very subject of their film.
Right from distributing sanitary napkins to school children to arranging for a special screening for Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani to initiating the #PadManChallenge wherein Akshay asked his fellow actors from the industry to post picture with sanitary pads.
Akshay is doing with his campaign against open defecation in the country that was the subject of his 2017 social drama ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.–CINEWS
