Actor Akshaye Khanna, who made a comeback after four years in Dishoom, said that he is happy to play small roles just for now.
Akshaye who acted in Dishoom said that he did the film because he liked the script as it was an interesting concept. Directed by Rohit Dhawan, Dishoom starring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez was released last Friday.
“The role really excited me and we had a great cast. Since I had taken such a long break, in the first three to four films, I want to do substantial roles but smaller parts just to get back into the rhythm,” Akshaye said.
Akshaye Khanna made his acting debut in 1997 with Himalay Putra which was produced by his father Vinod Khanna. Since then he has been featured in several critically and commercially acclaimed films. Akshaye has been a recipient of Filmfare Awards twice. His most popular films include Border, Taal, Dil Chahta Hai, Hulchul, Race among others. He was critically acclaimed for his performance in Dil Chahta Hai, Humraaz and Gandhi, My Father.
Akshaye said that he was also approached for a role in the second season of 24.
“Anil Kapoor wanted me to do a small part but it didn’t excite me. He is a good friend but I just didn’t feel it was right for me,” he said. However, he is impressed as Anil Kapoor has managed to make 24 despite the budget constraints in India. – CINEWS
