Akshay Kumar’s Rustom is going strong at the box office, repeating the successes of Airlift and Housefull 3.
Trade analysts predict a Rs 100 crore box office collection,
Rustom made Rs 14.11 crore at the box office, making it the fourth biggest opener of 2016. Day two, being a Saturday, the film is expected to earn around Rs 15-20 crore. On Friday it earned RS 14.11 crore and it is doing well in the Middle East too.
Among the top five openers of the year, two belong to Akshay himself. While his Housefull 3 earned Rs 15.21 crore on day 1, Airlift’s tally was 12.35 crore. Both earned over Rs 100 crore.
Rustom is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and also stars Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta.
Akshay plays a naval commander in the film who is accused of killing his wife’s lover. The film is inspired by KM Nanavati murder case which shook India in the 50s and changed the Indian judicial system.
Rustom was released on August 12 on 2,317 screens in India and 550-plus overseas. – CINEWS
