London, June 26 (ANI): At least 30 people have been killed in a terror attack at an African Union military base in southern Somalia, witnesses have said.
The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, who drove into the main entrance of the base in Leego along the main road connecting the capital, Mogadishu and the city of Baidoa, reported the BBC.
Islamist militant group Al Shabab has said that its fighters had taken control of the military base, a claim that is yet to be confirmed.
The terror outfit has long been engaged in a battle with Somalia’s government for control over the country.
The base is manned by Burundian soldiers from the African Union Mission.
This attack comes on a day when terror attacks struck Tunisia, leaving at least 27 dead; a Kuwait mosque, leaving over 20 people dead; and France, where a decapitated body was found next to a flag with Arabic writing in Lyon. (ANI)
