New Delhi, Feb.5 (ANI): American electronic commerce and cloud computing company Amazon has announced that the Amazon Echo, an expertly tuned speaker will now officially support Swedish commercial music streaming, podcast and video service Spotify.
In other words, now the Echo owners and Spotify premium subscribers can stream their music by commanding virtual assistant ‘Alexa’ to play Spotify.
Amazon says the new Echo functionality includes Spotify Connect, which allows for a seamless transition between on-the-go and at-home listening, the Verge reported.
Spotify was launched in September 2008 by Swedish startup Spotify AB. As of June 2015 Spotify had more than 75 million active users, including about 20 million paid users. Headquartered in London, Spotify Ltd. operates as the parent company, while Spotify AB handles research and development in Stockholm. (ANI)
