Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who moved to Hyderabad to concentrate Telugu films, is back in Bollywood and at the moment planning the third part of his Sarkar saga featuring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.
Talking to reporters he explained why he is planning a sequel at this stage. He said the point of continuing any franchise is only when the characters create an impact and Bachchan did that so powerfully in “Sarkar”.
The last time we saw Amitabh in an angry man’s role was only in “Sarkar” 10 years ago and the director says he designed that character from the angry image to portray him as being angrier than ever and that of course for highly valid reasons. There is a world of difference between an angry young man and an angry old man.
Explaining how he is going to present the veteran, he says the actor will have screen presence along with his trademark intimidating stares, shrivelling scowls and highly memorable one-liners, which is the tradition of “Sarkar”.
Amitabh Bachchan has said that he is in talks to do Sarkar 3.
Varma did not reveal the story or the other stars who are playing the lead roles as the film is in the developing stage.
Talking about the changes happening in Bollywood he says the people are adapting to the changes which he describe as a good omen for the movie industry.
Changes happen every Friday and they will keep happening and people will keep adapting to the changes and as long as people keep adapting changes won’t matter, he said. – CINEWS
