New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Suspended Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has said that he would challenge his suspension in the court against the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) Government’s move to suspend him on various charges, including violating official disciplinary norms.
The suspension of Thakur, an IG-level officer, came with immediate effect on Monday night.
The IPS officer had earlier approached the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) seeking a CBI probe into the rape case filed against him after he lodged a complaint against Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for threatening him.
Thakur had lodged a complaint at the Hazratganj police station last week and on Monday met union home ministry officials with regards to his security and the alleged threat call by Mulayam Singh.
The IPS officer, who has sought central force protection for himself and his wife and social activist Nutan Thakur, is expected to challenge the suspension. (ANI)
