Centurion, Jan.25 (ANI): Veteran South African batsman Hashim Amla scored a half century to help South Africa reach 121-4 at lunch in their second innings against England on the fourth day of the dead rubber fourth Test here at the Super Sport Park.
Amla, who smashed six boundaries, is unbeaten at 50 along with Temba Bavuma (9) to give his side a 254-run lead against the visitors.
For the visitors, James Anderson claimed three for 21 while Ben Stokes also contributed with a wicket.
Earlier, half centuries from Joe Root and skipper Alastair Cook helped England to reach 342 in reply to South Africa’s first innings of 475.
Moeen Ali had also smashed significant 61 before getting dismissed at the hands of Morne Morkel.
The hosts had suffered a seven-wicket defeat in the third Test in Johannesburg to give England a series win and thereby losing the number one Test ranking to India. (ANI)
