New Delhi, Feb. 29(ANI): Asif Kapadia and James Gay-Rees has received the ‘best documentary feature’ for ‘Amy’ and journalist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has taken home the golden lady with her for ‘A Girl In The River’ in the ‘Best Documentary Short’ category.
‘Amy’ is a film detailing the life of the late Amy Winehouse, the ‘Back to Black’ singer, from the early beginnings of her career in the late ’90s through her death in 2011. ‘Amy’ relied on home movies of Winehouse to open a compelling window into her life.
Asif Kapadia, this year, even bagged a Grammy Award for his film ‘Amy.’
Gay-Rees dedicated the award to “the fans, Amy’s fans who loved her through thick and thin; that’s all she ever really needed.”
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a Pakistan born, through her documentary, shows that every year, more than 1,000 girls and women are the victims of religiously motivated honor killings in Pakistan, especially in rural areas.
Benjamin Cleary and Serena Armitage too bagged the ‘Best Live Action Short Film’ for ‘Stutterer.’ The movie is based on a man whose lush inner thoughts are rendered mute by a crippling stutter feels isolated from the world despite a flourishing online relationship.(ANI)
