MIDDLETON, Wis. — American Girl, a premium brand for girls and a subsidiary of Mattel, Inc. has announced a content licensing agreement with Amazon that makes Amazon Prime Video the exclusive premium subscription streaming home for its first-ever animated series, WellieWishers. Starting October 14, the first of 26 WellieWishers’ episodes will be available for free for all customers through the Amazon Video app on TVs, connected devices, mobile devices or online, with all subsequent episodes available exclusively for Amazon Prime members at no additional cost to their membership. Introduced in June, American Girl’s WellieWishers’ line of dolls, early chapter books, and digital play experiences helps girls ages 5-7 develop the social and emotional skills they need to be a good friend.

The WellieWishers’ adventures and lessons unfold in each 11-minute animated episode and follow the fun-filled exploits of the five smart and lively WellieWishers’ characters—Willa, Kendall, Ashlyn, Emerson, and Camille. When the WellieWishers step into their colorful rain boots, they are ready for anything in their aunt’s whimsical backyard garden. Young viewers are entertained through stories, humor, and catchy songs as the WellieWishers work, dream, and play together—making mud pies, creating art, and putting on shows—all while imparting valuable lessons in friendship.
The WellieWishers’ characters and stories were developed with the help of renowned American Girl authorValerie Tripp. To ensure the educational quality of the new WellieWishers animated series, each episode was reviewed by Dr. Natascha Crandall, a psychologist and educator with a special interest in enhancing children’s growth and development through media.
