Johannesburg, Feb.26 (ANI): Anthony Martial became the latest player to join the Manchester United’s injury list after suffering a hamstring problem ahead of last night’s Europa League match against Midtjylland.
The Frenchman pulled out of the match at the last minute and was replaced by 18-year-old debutant Marcus Rashford, who scored a brace in United’s 5-1 win over the Danish opponents to progress through to the next stage of the Europa League 6-3 on aggregate.
Team manager Louis van Gaal said that Martial made a wise decision to step out of the match and described the striker’s injury as a not a serious one, Sport24 reported.
Besides Martial, United were without Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Will Keane, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and David De Gea last night.
United will next play against Premier League title contenders Arsenal on Sunday. (ANI)
