Despite directors Prakash Jha’s comments that Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has sued him, the latter has denied Jha’s accusations.
“Well I have not sued Prakash Jha, so stop creating a headline to get your clicks,” Kashyap tweeted on Tuesday.
It was earlier reported that Jha and his production house were sued for Rs 1 crore by Kashyap’s Phantom Films over Jai Gangaajal rights.
According to reports, Phantom Films, a jointly owned by Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena, claimed that it owns the IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) of the original film and also the rights to make a sequel or any adaptation based on Jha’s Gangaajal.
Priyanka Chopra starrer Jai Gangaajal is a sequel of the 2003 crime film Gangaajal.
The accusation was that Jha Production (PJP) had made a sequel of Gangaajal without having rights. “As the film is made already and intellectual property rights are violated, Jha should provide Rs 1 crore to Phantom film as compensation,” a notice stated. – CINEWS
