Director Ashim Ahluwalia who is making the biopic of Arun Gawli said the gangster turned politician gave him creative freedom for the film.
”When I first met Gawli, he never had any demands about what aspects should be included, and that’s what I appreciated as a filmmaker. He allowed us to show things the way they were and gave us creative freedom. I hope the public sees the same through the teaser and the movie,” the director said.
On Wednesday, Arjun Rampal hosted a special screening of the teaser of his forthcoming ‘Daddy’, for Arun Gawli’s family. Gawli’s three daughters — Geeta, Yogita and Asmita.
Arjun, who has also co-produced the movie that is based on the gangster-turned-politician’s life, said he approached Ahluwalia to direct it as he was impressed with his aesthetic sense and work ethics.
The actor, who discovered various facets of the politico’s career over a span of two years, said, “Initially, I had just heard Arun Gawli’s name. But when I researched, I found out about his ups and downs. To justify that in the film, not to the public and the world, but to his family is our real challenge.”
Geeta said, “To see Daddy in person and on screen is very different. Arjun and Ashim have shown every aspect of our father’s life in this movie.”
Yogeeta added, “This teaser has given me goose bumps and brought me closer to my dad.” – CINEWS
