London, Sept. 7 (ANI): Austria has announced that it plans to phase out special measures that have permitted thousands of refugees to travel from Hungary to Western Europe.
The Daily Star quoted Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann, as saying that they will gradually remove emergency measures for asylum seekers.
Germany also said that the country’s willingness to help should not be “overstretched”.
Amid sharp disagreements among EU members, the UN’s Refugee Chief Antonio Guterres said the crisis was “manageable” if member states could agree a joint plan.
Pope Francis earlier urged all religious communities in Europe to do their part to stem the refugee crisis and offer sanctuary to migrant families. (ANI)
