Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra screened his National award winning film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, in several European countries.
He took the film to Vienna in Austria, Zurich in Switzerland and Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Berlin in Germany.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a 2013 Indian biographical sports drama from a script written by Prasoon Joshi. The story is based on the life of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who was a national champion runner and an Olympian. It stars Farhan Akhtar in the lead role with Pavan Malhotra and Art Malik in supporting roles and Sonam Kapoor in a cameo.
Sport stunnts were coordinated by American action director Rob Miller of ReelSports.
Mehra says,”It was absolutely amazing to see that after three years of the film releasing in India, it was released in German-speaking cities of Europe. Majority of the audience present in the theatres were Europeans and they identified with the film exactly the way Indians did. The interaction with the audience was extremely enriching and they termed the film as the New Age Cinema from India and not Bollywood.” – CINEWS
