Ballabhgarh killing ‘orchestrated’, says Singhvi

New Delhi, Oct. 21 (ANI): Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Wednesday alleged that the killing of two children of a Dalit family at Sunperh village in Ballabhgarh was “orchestrated” and “designed to polarise persons, groups and communities to gain political capital”.

“It is time that they (the BJP Government) realise that they are the party in power, and at least show a modicum of respect for the sentiments of bereaved and all communities of India,” Singhvi said.

Lambasting the BJP for calling the visit of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to Sunperh village to meet the victim’s family as “Photo-op” (photo opportunity), Singhvi said, “What will you call Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s using high-sounding but hollow acronyms – Yoga Day, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ and ‘Mann Ki Baat’? Aren’t they photo-ops.”

Dubbing an advertisement that appeared in newspapers – ‘Haryana Government’s Glorious One Year, which reads: “Julm Raha Na Bhrastachaar Ek Varsh Sarvatra Harsh.”- as the “biggest irony”, he mocked, “Sarvatra Sarv vinaash, Sarvatra shok.”

“We are not going to stop talking about these issues howsoever you decide to deride, howsoever you try to mock us,” he added.

Earlier, holding the Haryana Government responsible for the incident, Congress leader P.C. Chacko had alleged that caste conflicts and communal tensions are on the rise ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took the reigns of office in the state.

“It was a horrible incident. The saffron party’s agenda is to create a caste polarisation in the state,” said Chacko.

“It is a miserable failure of law and order and the government machinery in Haryana and M. L. Khattar has no moral authority responsibility to continue as the Chief Minister of Haryana,” he added. (ANI)
