Jammu, Oct. 20 (ANI): Accusing Pakistan of providing overt and covert support to the separatists and other anti-national forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir, JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh on Tuesday alleged that Pakistani envoy Abdul Basit’s meeting with Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has yet again exposed Islamabad’s nefarious design.
“And meeting taking place particularly at a time when the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is deteriorating every other day. We find Pak flag being hosted and pro-Pak slogans being raised in Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Basit is continuously remaining in touch with these anti-national pro-Pak elements. This exposes fully the nefarious design of Pakistan,” he said.
Singh further said the international community must take a tough note on Pakistan’s blatant interference in the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir which is a part of India.
“And it is high time that the international community and United Nations take cognizance and impose sanctions against Pakistan so that this nation is kept in check and Indian Government also needs to aggressively take up this issue not only with the international community but also stop all the meetings which have the potential to further aggravate the situation in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Farooq yesterday met Basit about two months after his proposed meeting with Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz was aborted. (ANI)
