Noida, Oct.19 (ANI): Condemning the Shiv Sena protest at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai, Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla on Monday said that the cricket board will never go against national interest and will consult the government before taking any decision on bilateral series with Pakistan.
“Whatever today happened in Mumbai is very unfortunate. It should be strongly condemned. How can anyone stop the dialogue process? It was not a public event. It is not right to protest against the talks that is related to sports only,” Shukla told ANI.
“All the decisions related to cricket should be left on the BCCI as it is able enough to make decisions. BCCI will never take any decision that is against national interest. We will consult the government before taking any decision on bilateral series with Pakistan,” he added.
The Shiv Sena workers had earlier stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office to protest against the meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to discuss the India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December. (ANI)
