Director Bejoy Nambiar admits that his father UK Nambiar, who motivated him to become a filmmaker. The director reveals to source that he is very close to his father and he is one of the reasons that he is part of film industry now.
He has really pushed him to pursue his career in film-making, because he was groomed to take over the family business. But he saw that spark of filmmaking in him and he felt that I was really cut out for it.”
He starts making short films before making his full-fledged debut with ‘Shaitan’. Then he move forward to direct the Hindi and Tamil versions of ‘David’ and got the biggest break of his career with the making of ‘Wazir’
Telling about his father Bijoy says that his father is very blunt and tells people off on their face. During the launch of ‘Wazir’, he met Vidhu Vinod Chopra ji for the first time. The first thing my father told Mr. Chopra is, ‘You are the producer of ‘Wazir’, and I’m the producer of your director.’ Mr. Chopra didn’t know how to react.”
Is Bejoy also a ‘muhfat’ like his father? “I’m not at all a ‘muhfat’, I try a lot but I think I’m too diplomatic,” he said. He added: “I like films which deal with father-son dynamics. My favorite is ‘Shakti’, which had actors like Dilip sahib (Dilip Kumar) and Amit sahib (Amitabh Bachchan)… that combo, even today when I watch it, it gives me goose bumps; seeing them together in one frame is unbelievable….
