Bengal to set up centre for tackling cyber crimes

Kolkata, July 20 (IANS) To counter the rising threat of cyber crimes across the state, the West Bengal government will be setting up a cyber security centre, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday.

“The state government has decided to establish the West Bengal Cyber Security Centre of Excellence (WBCS-CoE) to deal with increasing cyber-offences in the State.

“It will be an apex body for dealing with all cyber-security related issues including creating awareness among common people on threats associated with it,” said Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee also said courses on “Data Science” and “Cyber-Security” will be introduced in colleges across the state, to increase employability of students.
