The biggest clash of the year is set for October 28 when Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil vs Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay showdown takes place amidst an ongoing controversy of ‘cash-for-promotions’ allegations.
Ajay Devgn-starrer film Shivaay’s trailer was well received despite allegations of ripping off several Hollywood films for its high octane action sequences.
The 93-second teaser of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s teaser starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan too drew lot of praise.
The countdown to the release of the two films added ominous overtones when Ajay Devgn started accusing Johar allegedly paying self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan (KRK) Rs 25 lakh to promote ADHM.
Kamaal Rashid Khan known for his outrageous comments on Twitter, began tweeting praising ADHM predicting that it is set to take down Devgn’s Shivaay.
Then Devgn struck back with audio clip of an alleged telephone conversation between Shivaay producer Kumar Mangat and KRK as proof of the alleged bribe.
Devgn in a statement said “I have been a part of the Indian film industry for the past 25 years and have been associated with over 100 films. My father was a professional action director and I have an emotional connection with this industry. It therefore pains me to see that people like Kamaal R Khan are holding the film industry to ransom by spreading negativity about films to extort money from producers.”
KRK, in his defence, wrote a series of tweets and said Karan never offered him any money and accused Devgn it was he who offered him the same amount to bash ADHM.
Filmmaker Prakash Jha stepped in supporting Devgn, who has worked with him in films like Raajneeti, Satyagraha and Gangaajal, saying: “I’m not surprised Ajay Devgn. They are a scared lot. Manipulation is their only means of survival. But Shiva is with you.” – CINEWS
