Bihar elections: JD (U) dubs Mahagathbandhan’s lead as defeat of ‘money bags’

Patna, Nov. 8 (ANI): Reacting to the mahagathbandhan’s lead in the early trends in the countdown to the Bihar election results, Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Sunday congratulated the people of the state and said that all the salvos launched by the BJP-led alliances have backfired on them.

“It was an intense fight indeed and it was battle between the moneybags on one side and morals on the others. We had campaigned aggressively in the final phase and because of that we expect appositive result. Every salvo launched by the BJP has backfired on them. Saying Pakistan will celebrate if we lose, attacking Nitish Kumar’s DNA, calling Lalu Yadav a shaitan, it’s all coming back to them,” Sharad Yadav told the reporters from his residence.

Saying that the mahagathbandhan’s lead in the trends was a victory for the people of Bihar as well as the nation, Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has aggressively led the campaign had probably never faced such a gruelling battle.

According to the Election Commision data, after five rounds of counting, the Mahagathbandan is leading in 135 seats, NDA in 90, and others in seven seats.

Earlier, however, the BJP-led alliances had taken the lead in the trends and celebrations had already begun in the BJP offices in Patna.

Amidst tight security arrangements counting of votes for the five-phased Bihar Assembly election is underway. (ANI)
