New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the saffron party- led Central government of being responsible for the sealing drive in Delhi.
This comes a day after Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the drive was carried out on the direction of the Supreme Court.
Reacting to Puri’s comments, AAP’s New Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Brajesh Goyal said the BJP, its government at the Centre and Puri are responsible for the sealing of over 20,000 properties in Delhi in 2017.
“The sealing caused huge suffering to the small businessmen in the city. Now the BJP is shying away from taking the responsibility. The traders have decided that they will teach a lesson to the party which is responsible for the sealing, which is the BJP,” Goyal, who is also the convenor of the AAP’s trade and industry wing in Delhi, told the media here.
“BJP, central government and Puri are wholly and solely responsible for it. If the government had the intention, they could have brought ordinance to stop the sealing drive,” he added.
On Wednesday, Puri tweeted that the sealing was done on the directions of the Supreme Court by a special committee chaired by former bureaucrat Bhure Lal.
Puri also accused the AAP and its leaders of spreading lies.
