New Delhi, July 1 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hit back at the Congress for its tirade against Swaraj Kaushal, the husband of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, and said that the grand old party has been bitten by a Press Conference (PC) bug.
“The Congress has been bitten by a PC bug. Day in-day out, they are beating around the bush for the same point. Today, they have returned on the same point of quid-pro-quo in Sushma Swaraj’s case,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
“Where is the quid-pro-quo? If something was offered, was it accepted? …rather if an offer was made and it was not accepted then it demolishes the very essence of the word quid-pro-quo. An offer was made, but out of proprietary it was rejected,” added Patra.
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi had earlier alleged that there was clear material to show that Lalit Modi offered a job to a close relative of the External Affairs Minister.
“You have on one hand deafening silence and on other casual clean chits. They are trying to brazen it out. We demand through you that this can’t be silenced in the manner in which the government is trying,” said Singhvi.
“Does it justify this Prime Minister who says ‘Na khanuga na khane doonga’ his silence? Does it require some accountability rather than some BJP minister saying there is no stigma, there is no guilt? It is like a parent saying that my child is innocence,” he added.
According to reports, former IPL boss Lalit Modi had asked Swaraj Kaushal to serve as his back-up on the board of one of his companies. (ANI)
