The body of a young Mississauga man who disappeared while swimming in a lake in Tweed Sunday (Aug. 28) has been recovered, OPP report.

Saad Salman, 21, was last seen around 4 p.m. swimming about 20 feet from shore in Stoco Lake in Trudeau Park, located in Tweed, which is north of Belleville.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

Salman had been attending an annual music festival in the park, according to Central Hastings OPP. He was seen by witnesses around 4 p.m. in the water, “in distress,” when the beach was closed for an oncoming thunderstorm.

He went under the water and didn’t resurface, according to police.

But he was not reported missing for another six-and-a-half hours, when OPP were called at 10:30 p.m.
Police searched the shore and beach area in the dark, then returned Monday with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
