The annual Brampton Farmers’ Markets has returned for 2016 with the kickoff of the Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market on Saturday, June 18 and the Mount Pleasant Village Farmers’ Market on Thursday, June 23.
Residents are invited to attend the markets over the course of the summer, where they will be greeted by an array of fresh-picked, seasonal produce, a large selection of organic products, meats, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, and more.
“Access to fresh, locally farmed and grown produce and food is important as we continue to build a better, healthier and livable Brampton,” said Mayor Jeffrey. “I encourage all Brampton residents to visit Brampton’s Farmers’ Markets, buy local and support our local growers, farmers and artisans.”
This year, opening day festivities at the Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market included a children’s craft station hosted by JellyBeenz in Ken Whillans Square and an official kickoff ceremony at 11 am in Garden Square, followed by the opening of the new “Cooking at the Market” series. The series featurured free cooking demonstrations by professional celebrity chef Jason Rosso of Brampton’s own J Red and Co., as well as sous chefs from the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre.
The Mount Pleasant Village Farmers’ Market kicked off with an official opening ceremony at 4 pm.
There will be weekly entertainment and themed days throughout the season at both markets, providing a fun experience for shoppers of all ages who are looking to purchase top-quality, farm-fresh products directly from the people who produce them.
