Brampton honours city’s long-standing businesses

More than 20 longstanding Brampton businesses were recognized on Thursday at the City of Brampton’s Business Milestone Event.

The event was hosted by Mayor Linda Jeffrey, Councillor Jeff Bowman, Chair of the Economic Development Committee, Councillor Doug Whillans, Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee, and the Brampton Economic Development Office. Councillors Michael Palleschi and Pat Fortini presented the recipients with framed certificates reflecting their achievements.

“For many of you this has been a long journey, with bumps along the way,” said Mayor Jeffrey. “But you persevered, and invested in Brampton, and for that, we thank you.”

Celebrating the century milestone this year was DavisWebb LLP, a prominent Brampton law firm with strong roots in the area. Bill Davis and Ronald Webb both spoke at the event. Reflecting on the firm’s founder, A. Grenville Davis, in his acceptance remarks, Mr. Webb acknowledged both the value of the milestone event, and the importance of community. “Grenville taught us to contribute to the community. His example helped us learn that ethic,” said Mr. Webb. “I believe we have been enriched by doing that, and hope we have added value to this community in return.”

Almost 100 Brampton businesses achieved milestones of 25, 50, 75 or 100+ years of operation in Brampton for 2016.
