Once, Shah Rukh Khan said in a BBC interview that in Bollywood everything is celebrated with a song.
“When we are sad we sing when we are happy we sing. That’s Bollywood way of life,” he told the mainly foreign audience.
Many people are trying to read meanings to a melody in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which the makers have described as a breakup song. Some ask ‘can we really be happy and sing while facing a bad, bitter breakup’.
Not sure whether Katrina and Ranbir celebrated the bitter breakup with a song and dance!
Director Karan Johar who is still not sure whether the film will hit the screen on the scheduled day of release says the song is all about women empowerment.
The song shows Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor celebrating a breakup, and is all about how moving on can be easy.
“‘The breakup song’ is all about women empowerment. Breaking up should be as quick and easy as falling in love,” Karan said in a statement.
Karan talked about the song when he was chatting with Neha Dhupia at Absolut Elyx Filmfare Glamour & Style Awards here.
The bouncy, catchy, rap melody is sung by Arijit Singh, Badshah, Jonita Gandhi and Nakash Aziz.
Cannot remember anything like this in Bollywood.
All the break up songs in Bollywood tearjerker repertoire have been sad and mournful.
