BSF head constable arrested for helping smugglers

SAS Nagar (Mohali), Jan. 12 (ANI): A Border Security Force (BSF) head constable was arrested by the SAS Nagar Police for allegedly helping smugglers in trafficking of their consignments across the Line of Control (LoC).

“Prem Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, who is serving as a head constable with the BSF’s 72 Battalions in the Barmer sector of Rajasthan, was arrested for allegedly accepting Rs. 50,000 from smugglers for passing their consignment when he was posted in Fazilka sector in 2014,” said Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police G.S. Bhullar at a press conference.

“He joined BSF in 1993, and was posted at various places, including West Bengal and North East. However, during his posting at Fazilka, between September 2014 and November 2014, he helped smugglers in trafficking of their consignments,” he said.

He was arrested from his village Naushehra Dhala in Tarn Taran District, where he was spending his leave, said the SSP. (ANI)
