Chandigarh, Oct 19 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 10 kg of heroin along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab, a BSF spokesman said on Monday.
The heroin was recovered near a border outpost in Ferozepur sector after the troopers challenged smugglers from Pakistan.
Although the BSF and the smugglers traded gun fire, the latter escaped.
The BSF later found packets containing heroin, valued at Rs.50 crore in the international market.
Four pistols, seven magazines, 95 rounds of ammunition, two Pakistani mobile phones and Sim cards were also recovered.
The total seizure of heroin this year by the BSF along the Punjab border is nearly 260 kg.
