Dimapur (Nagaland), July 22 (ANI): Business bodies on Wednesday downed their shutters in protest against an assault on a business employee here by GPRN/NSCN cadres on July 19.
Four frontal business organisations of Dimapur District-Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), Chumukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association (CCCTA) “voluntarily” downed shutters of all business establishments from Dimapur town to Chumukedima on July 22 from 12 noon till 6 p.m.
The decision to shut down operations was decided at an emergency coordination meeting of frontal business organisations of Dimapur district held on July 21 at the DCCI office.
At the meeting, the house also decided to appeal to the state government to arrest the perpetrators of the July 19 incident at the earliest.
The business organisations decided to take their own course of action until those responsible were arrested by the state government.
On July 19, Kahoto Zhimo, an employee of New Orchid Shop, Dimapur, was picked up by GPRN/NSCN cadres, under the command of “Captain” Hutoshe, and taken to their camp, where he was beaten black and blue for a taxation-related issue.
However, all other activities functioned as usual. (ANI)
