New Delhi, Sept. 30 (ANI): Union Communication and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday said call drops are a legacy of the Congress, as under ten years of its rule, the Sanchar Bhawan was known for all the wrong reasons.
“Congress Party has demanded my resignation. I have certain questions for them. Under ten years of Congress’ rule, the Sanchar Bhawan was unfortunately known for all the wrong reasons. It had become an example of corruption, loot and gross impropriety, where honest opinion of good officers was ignored. 2G and other scams took place under Congress’ regime, which are under trial by the CBI on orders of the Supreme Court,” Prasad told a press conference here.
“Call drops is also a legacy of Congress. The condition of BSNL and MTNL along with other communication networks in the country deteriorated due to lack of monitoring under the Congress’ regime, apart from other factors,” he added.
Asserting the seriousness of central government on the issue of call drops, Prasad further said: “I have learnt that TRAI has again done a sample survey in five cities of India. Since the problem came to light, I have taken very proactive steps. My department is very active and constant monitoring is going on. TRAI is also considering setting up infrastructure to check call drops.”
According to the latest TRAI report, the call drop problem during peak hours has almost doubled in the last one year.(ANI)
