New Delhi, 0ct. 8 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday said that cancelling a concert of Pakistan’s popular ghazal singer Ghulam Ali under the pressure of the Shiv Sena was not in the interest of bettering bilateral ties between the two countries.
“We should promote culture, sports, and people-to-people contacts in every field. India and Pakistan will have to remain good neighbours and need to improve their relationship. Disputes between Pakistan and India should be resolved through bilateral talks,” CPI leader D. Raja told ANI.
Raja said that whatever the Shiv Sena was doing in Mumbai or Maharashtra is unacceptable.
He also said Prime Minister Modi’s silence on issues or incidents is baffling, as also his inability to rein in his BJP workforce.
The October 9 Ghulam Ali’s concert was cancelled under pressure from the Shiv Sena Chitrapat Sena. (ANI)
