Carty’s firework helps Windies stun India to seal maiden U-19 title

Mirpur, Feb.14 (ANI): Keacy Carty showed a great resilience and struck a brilliant half century as West Indies swept aside the Indian team by five wickets to clinch their maiden ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup title here at Shere Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.

After being asked to bat first, West Indies bowlers produced a scintillating performance as they bundled out India for 145 runs inside 46 overs.

Sarfaraz Khan was the lone scorer for India as he contributed significant 51 runs and help India steer past 100 runs.

Alzarri Joseph was pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he dismissed India’s top order by claiming three important wickets of opener Rishab Pant (one), skipper Ishan Kishan (four) and Anmol Preet Singh (three).

Ryan John also bagged three wickets while Chemar K Holder, Shamar Springer and Keemo Paul shared four wickets among themselves.

In reply, West Indies chased the target with three balls to spare, thanks to Carty for his unbeaten 52 and Paul for his unbeaten 40.

Carty was adjudged as `man of the match`, while Mehedi Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh was named as ` man of the series`. (ANI)
