New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) A criminal case has been registered against an unidentified person who impersonated a policeman to unauthorisedly take away a report from a private forensic lab here, a senior police officer said on Monday.

“A case has been filed at the Safdarjung Enclave police station,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Nupur Bhardwaj said. No arrest has been made so far in the case.

Police said the accused received a copy of the report from Truth Lab in south Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave area on January 19.

Bhardwaj said the private lab had been tasked with the verification of a document from the Najafgarh police station, but the person who identified himself as constable Naresh Kumar took the report after producing what he claimed was an authorisation letter from South West Delhi’s Najafgarh police station.

The SHO concerned later maintained that he did not issue any authorisation letter to any police official, the Additional DCP said.
