The CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) told the Bombay High Court that Jiah Khan’s death is a clear case of suicide and not murder as claimed by the actress’ mother Rabia Khan.
The interim stay on the trial court proceedings against Sooraj Pancholi was extended till the next hearing of the HC on August 23. Rabia, who attended the hearing on Monday, was visibly disturbed with the CBI’s statements. A source said, “She was in town only for the hearing. The other party had raised a lot of hue and cry over her absence. Henceforth, she will try and attend every important hearing.”
When asked about her next course of action, Rabia said, “The CBI’s version was appalling. I will not rest till the truth is out. I made it very clear that I am not here to waste mine or the court’s time. If need be, I will go to the Supreme Court to get justice for my daughter”.
Jiah Khan (born as Nafisa Rizvi Khan) was a British American actress and singer who appeared in Hindi films. She made her film debut in the 2007 Ram Gopal Verma film Nishabd for which she was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. On 3 June 2013, she was found dead hanging with a ceiling fan in her flat in the Sagar Sangeet building in Juhu, Mumbai. Initially suspected as a suicide case, her mother later said that she was murdered by her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi, after several evidences were found.
Bombay HC will decide on Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan’s plea by 23 August and meanwhile, interim stay on the trial against Sooraj Pancholi will continue. The High Court asked Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan, to draw a list pointing out anomalies, if any, in the probe made by police and CBI into the death of her daughter.
After Jiah’s death her mother Rabia claimed that Jiah was murdered and demanded that Jiah’s then beau, Sooraj Pancholi should be tried for murder and not for abetment of suicide. – CINEWS
