Change in mindset will turn “Viklang” into “Divyang”: PM Modi

Varanasi, Jan. 22 (ANI): Addressing a rally in his constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that he wanted the people to change their mindset towards the differently abled and that is why he wants the word “Divyang” to be used by the commoners.

“When I say let us use the word ‘Divyang,’ I believe that it is about a change in the mindset of people,” Prime Minister Modi said.

“Let us not think about what is lacking in a person, let us see what the extra ordinary quality a person is blessed with,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi further said the government is constantly thinking about how development can be brought down to last man of the society so that their lives can be transformed.

“I said this on the very first day that our Government will always be there for the poor and for those who have faced struggles in their lives,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi, under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase (ADIP) scheme, distributed devices aid to the differently abled here.

“The result of such camps is that middlemen are getting eliminated. And with middlemen getting eliminated, people are getting worried,” he added.

Prime Minister further said that as a society, we have to ensure that together we take care for all those who are “Divyang.”

“I recall so many touching experiences when I was Chief Minister when I interacted with the ‘Divyang’ sisters and brothers,” he said.

“We will do everything possible, where rules and systems have to be changed, we will change them,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also flagged off the Mahamana Superfast Express here.

The train has been named Mahamana Express after Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). (ANI)
