China denies derailing Myanmar’s talks with ethnic rebels

London, Oct. 9 (ANI): Beijing has rejected a Myanmar official’s claim that it had interfered in the last week’s ceasefire deal with ethnic rebels.

The Guardian quoted Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei, as saying that China has supported Myanmar’s steps taken to resolve differences with all ethnic groups.

Earlier, Min Zaw Oo, a senior official of the government-linked Myanmar Peace Centre, had said that China’s special envoy had pressured two key rebel groups not to sign the peace accord.

He claimed that China was against the clauses which included Japan and western nations as international observers, Zaw added (ANI)
