China’s food, drug safety conditions improve in 2015

Beijing, Feb 9 (IANS) China’s food and drug safety conditions improved in 2015 as the number of illegal cases fell year-on-year, according to the country’s industrial watchdog.

A total of 353,951 illegal food and drug cases were filed in China in 2015, decreasing by about 50,000 cases compared with 2014, Xinhua cited China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) as showing.

The government has called off production and operation of over 13,000 wrong-doing businesses, according to CFDA.

The improvement of food and drug safety conditions is partly owing to enhanced coordination of food and drug watchdogs with other departments, CFDA said.
