London, July 9 (ANI): The London Metropolitan Police on Wednesday extended the bail of the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain party along with two other leaders M. Anwar and Tariq Mir, as well as a Karachi based businessman Sarfraz Merchant till October this year.


According to the Nation, MQM chief was arrested from his house in London on June 3, 2014 during a money laundering investigation that was started in July 2013 by the London Metropolitan Police.


MQM spokesman confirmed that the bail was of Hussain, Mir and Anwar was extended until 5th, 6th and 7th October respectively.


Altaf was released four days after his arrest in 2014. In total, he has been granted four bail extensions, the second on December 3, 2014, third on April 14, 2015 and the fourth extension was granted on Wednesday.


Police had found ‘a considerable amount of money’ during raids at Hussain’s residence and office in London. (ANI)
