London, July 07 (ANI): Australia captain Michael Clarke has insisted that his speed merchant Mitchell Johnson is ‘bowling as fast as ever’ and is ready to have a ‘huge impact’ on the Ashes beginning on Wednesday in Cardiff.
Johnson produced a fearsome performance on his home turf as he claimed a staggering 37 wickets during the 5-0 drubbing of England in the previous Ashes series. However, the Australian quick averages 37.73 with the ball in England.
Clarke maintained that Johnson is bowling as fast as he has faced in the nets, while saying that left-hander’s swing deliveries make him hard to face, the BBC reported.
Clarke further said that Johnson is excited about the Ashes, insisting that if the pace spearhead can bowl the way he has bowled since they landed in this country, he could have a huge impact.
The Michael Clarke-led team will seek to end a streak of three straight away Ashes series reverses on this tour. (ANI)
